Why we exist
A choice worth having, buried in fine print.
Georgia deregulated residential natural gas in 1997. It was one of the boldest
consumer-choice experiments any state has run. Nearly thirty years later, most
households still shop it the same way: they pick whichever number looks smallest
and hope.
That instinct is expensive. A per-therm rate is only part of the bill. Marketers
layer on monthly customer service charges. Some rates are fixed for a term, others
float with the market and can climb sharply in January when your usage peaks.
Introductory pricing rolls to a default variable rate the month your term ends.
And every customer, regardless of marketer, still pays Atlanta Gas Light's
pass-through delivery charges.
We built AtlantaGasRates.com to put those moving parts on the same screen, so the
plan that ranks first is the one that actually costs least for a home like yours,
not the one with the friendliest headline.
