Atlanta Gas Rates

Independent & Georgia-focused

We make Georgia's gas market readable.

AtlantaGasRates.com is an independent comparison site for natural gas plans on the Atlanta Gas Light system. Georgia gave households the right to choose their gas marketer in 1997, then handed them a market where the cheapest headline rate and the cheapest annual bill are frequently not the same plan. Our job is to close that gap in a couple of minutes.

Why we exist

A choice worth having, buried in fine print.

Georgia deregulated residential natural gas in 1997. It was one of the boldest consumer-choice experiments any state has run. Nearly thirty years later, most households still shop it the same way: they pick whichever number looks smallest and hope.

That instinct is expensive. A per-therm rate is only part of the bill. Marketers layer on monthly customer service charges. Some rates are fixed for a term, others float with the market and can climb sharply in January when your usage peaks. Introductory pricing rolls to a default variable rate the month your term ends. And every customer, regardless of marketer, still pays Atlanta Gas Light's pass-through delivery charges.

We built AtlantaGasRates.com to put those moving parts on the same screen, so the plan that ranks first is the one that actually costs least for a home like yours, not the one with the friendliest headline.

How the Georgia market works

Three parties, one bill.

Confusion about Georgia's gas market usually comes down to one thing: people assume the company that delivers their gas is the company that prices it. It hasn't been that way since 1998.

1

Atlanta Gas Light delivers

AGL owns the pipes, reads the meter, and responds to leaks and outages for every customer, no matter which marketer you buy from. Its delivery charges are set by the Georgia Public Service Commission and passed through identically by all marketers.

2

Certificated marketers sell

Retail marketers certificated by the Georgia PSC compete to sell you the gas itself. They set the per-therm rate, the term, and the monthly customer service charge. This is the only part of your bill you actually control.

3

You choose, and can switch

You're free to move between marketers as contracts allow. Switching doesn't touch your pipes, your meter, or your service. Nothing about the gas in your home changes; only the price on the supply line does.

A safety note we'd rather over-share: if you smell gas, leave immediately and call 911 and Atlanta Gas Light from a safe distance. Emergencies are always AGL's responsibility, never your marketer's and never ours.

Where our data comes from

Rates from the source, refreshed daily.

Plan pricing on this site comes directly from the natural gas marketers serving the Atlanta Gas Light service territory and from their published offer sheets. We refresh our catalog daily and timestamp it: every results page shows the date and time the rates were last synced, so you always know how fresh the number in front of you is.

AtlantaGasRates.com is independently operated. We are not the Georgia Public Service Commission, not Atlanta Gas Light, and not affiliated with or endorsed by any government agency. Rates change frequently and are subject to marketer approval and availability, so always review the marketer's terms of service and price disclosure before you enroll.

How we make money

Plain-English disclosure

When you enroll in a plan through this site, the natural gas marketer may pay us a referral fee. You never pay that fee, and it never changes your rate. The price is identical whether you sign up through us or walk in the marketer's front door.

Editorial standards

The rules we hold ourselves to.

These aren't aspirations. They're the operating rules for what gets published on this site, and we'd rather you hold us to them in writing.

  • Show the whole cost

Per-therm rates are displayed alongside monthly customer service charges and contract length, because a low rate attached to a high fixed charge is not a low bill.

  • Say what happens next

Where a plan is introductory or converts to a variable rate at term end, we say so on the plan itself, not in a footnote after you've enrolled.

  • Link to the source terms

Every plan links to the marketer's own terms and price disclosure. Ours is a summary; theirs is the contract, and it governs.

  • Timestamp everything

Rates carry the date and time they were last synced. Stale pricing is presented as stale, never as current.

  • Your data isn't the product

We don't sell personal information. Analytics track aggregate behavior so we can improve the site; they don't track individuals, and nothing is resold.

Who we are

Operated by Lumanex, LLC.

AtlantaGasRates.com is owned and operated by Lumanex, LLC. We've been publishing natural gas rate comparisons for Georgia households since 2017, which means we've watched this market through price spikes, cold snaps, marketers entering, and marketers exiting. That history is the reason we're careful about how plans are presented: we've seen which offers look best in October and which ones people regret in January.

We are a comparison and enrollment platform, not a natural gas marketer. We don't supply gas, we don't bill you, and we don't hold your account. Your relationship and your contract are with the marketer you choose and with Atlanta Gas Light for delivery.

For Georgia natural gas marketers

If you hold a current certificate from the Georgia Public Service Commission and want your plans in front of shoppers on the Atlanta Gas Light system, we onboard marketers on a rolling basis after certificate verification. Rates must be submitted in full, including customer service charges, term, and renewal treatment. Partnership buys distribution, not position.
